Kanyaro School
Kanyaro School asked for help to replace this mud brick and grass-thatched classroom 3 years ago. Their children get wet in the rainy season (December to April) and suffer from breathing problems on the dusty floors. However, the villagers have had difficulties making the number of bricks that were needed.

Kanyaro community have spent a busy 9 months, making bricks, and building can go ahead, this time!

In the interim, the community has also built some other temporary shelters for their pupils. 8 weeks from now, there will be a permanent, burnt-brick double classroom block with office and store, all thanks to the hard work of UK fundraisers and the local community.

Work in progress... July 2011. MEL supplies metal door and window frames to withstand termite attack: these insects can destroy wooden frames in weeks!

Kanyaro School is now complete. Team 2 went in and painted classrooms, drew teaching resources on walls, handed over furniture for teachers, teaching and sports resources, played football and netball (Why do we always lose??!)
